One morning, Kenny Ausubel woke up paralyzed on the left side of his body. He went to several doctors but not one of them could diagnose the cause of his sudden paralysis. This prompted him to turn to alternative forms of medicine, and he learnt the reason was a massive exposure to dioxin, a toxic chemical compound.
From this experience, Ausubel developed an interest in environmental solutions. In 1990, he founded Bioneers with his wife, Nina Simons. Bioneers is an internationally recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to disseminating breakthroughs in environmental restoration solutions and protecting the planet. She is the President and he serves as the CEO.
A year before this, Kenny had also co-founded Seeds of Change, an organic seeds and natural foods company, where he, again, served as CEO .
In addition to his ongoing work with Bioneers, Kenny is also currently working on several film projects. He is the producer of several award-winning documentaries, including “Hoxsey: How Healing Becomes a Crime”, about the medical politics surrounding the secrecy around and non-promotion of promising but unconventional cancer therapies.
In 2007, he acted as central advisor on Leonardo DiCaprio’s feature documentary, The 11th Hour, and also appears in the film.
