Maximilian Martin is the Founder and Global Managing Director of Impact Economy SA and the Founder and President of the Board of the Impact Pledge Foundation.
He also serves as Founding Faculty in Residence at Ashoka U (USA) and Lecturers in Social Entrepreneurship & Finance at the University of St. Gallen, in Switzerland.
Max has authored over one hundred articles on social business and philanthropy, corporate responsibility, impact investments, and related topics, such as “Building Impact Businesses through Hybrid Financing: Special Impact” (May 2014).
He previously served as Founding Global Head and Managing Director of UBS Philanthropy Services, Senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company, an instructor at Harvard’s Economics Department, and Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership, Harvard Kennedy School.
Maximilian Martin created and led Europe’s first global wealth management philanthropic advisory and impact investing platform, UBS Philanthropy Services and the UBS Philanthropy Forum, as well as the first university course on social entrepreneurship in Europe, at the University of Geneva, and created the brand Impact Economy.
Impact Economy claims to have conducted “numerous advisory mandates, investment transactions” and participated in “several important innovations in the field of social change around the world.”
Martin was recently invited to write the primer on impact investing for the G8 policy makers’ conference.
He holds an MA in Anthropology from Indiana University, a MPA from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Economic Anthropology from the University of Hamburg.
